Lynnfield’s playgrounds – Newhall Park, Jordan Park and Glen Meadow Park – are in need of major renovation. The need is mostly owing to three issues: 1. disrepair due to years of use without proper maintenance, 2. age of apparatus and 3. lack of accessible equipment for individuals with disabilities (a federal mandate since the passage of 1992’s Individuals with Disabilities Act). Of equal concern is the fact that these playgrounds do not reflect the family-oriented character of the Town because of their decrepit condition.

Other private organizations within Lynnfield are currently fundraising to benefit the playgrounds, with the intention of commencing work on this large project in 2015. This will include grant applications for playground equipment and a community garden. These funds will be siloed by Townscape, and money raised will be used to purchase state of the art equipment to help make Lynnfield’s playgrounds safe, accessible and reflective of Lynnfield’s “family friendly” nature.
